The effects of different Type Ia SN yields on Milky Way chemical evolution

چکیده

ABSTRACT We study the effect of different Type Ia SN nucleosynthesis prescriptions on Milky Way chemical evolution. To this aim, we run detailed one-infall and two-infall evolution models, adopting a large compilation yield sets corresponding to white dwarf progenitors (near-Chandrasekar sub-Chandrasekar) taken from literature. adopt fixed delay time distribution function for SNe, in order avoid degeneracies analysis channels. also combine yields test contribution The results models are compared with recent LTE NLTE observational data. find that ‘classical’ W7 WDD2 produce Fe masses [?/Fe] abundance patterns similar more physical near-Chandrasekar sub-Chandrasekar models. For Fe-peak elements, strongly depend either explosion mechanism (deflagration-to-detonation, pure deflagration, double detonation) or initial conditions (central density, pattern). comparison model observations suggests combination is necessary reproduce data V, Cr, Mn Ni, fractions depending adopted massive stars stellar yields. This singly ionized abundances should be definitely preferred when dealing most elements at low metallicity.

On the chemical evolution of the Milky Way

I discuss three different topics concerning the chemical evolution of the Milky Way (MW). 1) The metallicity distribution of the MW halo; it is shown that this distribution can be analytically derived in the framework of the hierarchical merging scenario for galaxy formation, assuming that the component sub-haloes had chemical properties similar to those of the progenitors of satellite galaxies...

On the early chemical evolution of the Milky Way

A few topics concerning the early chemical evolution of the Milky Way are critically discussed. In particular, it is argued that: 1) Observed abundance patterns of extremely metal poor stars (of Pop. II) do not constrain the mass range of the first generation (Pop. III) stars; the latter may well be normal massive stars (10-50 M⊙) or very massive ones (140-1000 M⊙) or a combination of the two c...

The early phases of Milky Way ’ s chemical evolution

The earliest phases of the chemical evolution of our Galaxy are analysed in the light of the recent VLT results (concerning abundance patterns in the most metal-poor stars of the Galactic halo) and of stellar nucleosynthesis calculations. It is argued that: 1) the unexpected abundance patterns observed in Pop. II stars are not the imprints of an early generation of supermassive Pop. III stars; ...
